Kalamata to Kardamyli

Breakfast outside across the road from the hotel Ostria. There are already lots of elderly Greek swimmers in the flat calm water bobbing around. Lovely sunny day. We leave at 9 and see that it’s already 28 degrees at 9:30!  Up we pedal for over an hour rewarded with the luxuriant scent of jasmine and wild thyme. Through the Koskaraka gorge we go and stop at Kambos to look round an old church filled with 18th century frescoes which have seen better days. Then a long swoop down to Kardamyli where have lunch of Greek salad, fave bean dip, grilled aubergine, beetroot salad and a small carafe of rosé. Utter bliss. Swimming and sunbathing before finding our little apartment in town with its lovely balcony.
