Friday 10 June: Selinitsa Beach
Our balcony is facing east and I am blinded by the sun as Simon opens the shutters having allowed me a leisurely start. Today is a day of rest! Breakfast at the pension outside. Pleasant but not really up to our self catering on the balcony. We cycle a couple of miles to Selinitsa Beach where we saw a turtle 4 years ago. We have both just read an intriguing book called The Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel about time travel. There has been a sense of deja vu to our activities over the last few days and we have ended up on the same beach and been to the same restaurants as last time. Time travelling perhaps. Although the familiar building works look pretty much as though time has stood still.
It is windy again today and it’s sometimes a bit stormy but it comes to very little apart from some light rain drops. We are virtually the only people on the beach but we enjoy the quiet and our meagre toasted sandwich in the scruffy beach bar.
Tomorrow is our longest cycle and I’m feeling a little nervous. Fingers crossed this wind subsides or changes direction or I’ll be in trouble.
